Sweet Potato & Apple Dog Treats

Sweet Potato & Apple Dog Treats

We shouldn’t be the only ones to enjoy the flavors of fall that’s why I whipped up a batch of these super easy puppy treats that are quick, made with on hand ingredients and the best part: you know exactly what your furry friend is eating.

These treats can be made in large batches and froze for 2 months in an airtight container.  Another great idea is to package these in a mason jar with a little twine and use them as hostess gifts this holiday season for your friends that have furry friends.

Ingredients

1 C mashed sweet potato

1/2 C applesauce

1 1/2 C Oat flour

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1 Tablespoon fresh or dried parsley (to help with their puppy breath 🙂

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350*

Line 1 large or 2 smaller baking sheets with parchment paper

In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients until well combined.  I recommend using wooden spoons as dough will be tough.

Next, roll into 1/2″ balls and place on baking sheet approx 1.5″ apart.

Using the back of a fork, gently press down on the balls to flatten to an even thickness.

Bake for 17-19 mins or until the bottom of the treat is a light golden brown.  The top of the treats won’t brown much so gauge it by the bottom.

Remove from oven and allow to cool then place in an airtight container and store in the fridge.

Makes 2-3 dozen.
